Disney 2012

It is a long time away, but it gives people time to plan, save and train.
2011 is too close for me to be able to save up and make a family vacation out of it, and that's the only way I'm going to get in one of these events on the other side of the country.

The ironic thing is, my husband and I were talking about this event just last week (he's deployed to Iraq right now) since I was wanting to go in 2011, but that would only be 2 weeks after his return home from Iraq, and he's not going to feel much like traveling and our youngest would still be too young to enjoy Disney. So we agreed last week we would go for the marathon weekend in January 2012 so both our children could enjoy Disney, and by then we would be able to save enough $$ to really have a fun vacation and fly his mom in from CA to come with us. So it was a big suprise for me to see this topic on here this morning.

That's awesome Jillian,

We had talked about a team event for a while, but so many people had so many ideas, I decided to slim the list of events down.  Since not everyone does Triathlons, it seemed that a foot race was the best choice.  With Disney we have both the 1/2, full, and for the crazies we have both.

It's also a vacation destination, so it really works out well.  For me it means 3 airline tickets from CA to FL, hotel and park entry, it's a big deal, that's why we thought 2012, it give everyone a year to save up for this.

It really is cool getting to meet other members of this board/team
Even though it was only a 10k race, it was cool to get to run with Dan and Brian and Christie.

I'm already looking forward to it.

Jillian,
Check out the Shades of Green. We stayed there last year and it was beautiful! It is right across fromthe Polynesian. We walked over and took the Monorail to the parks. They have family suites available which is nice for extended families and when you have little ones.

2012!  I CAN SAVE FOR THAT!

POST RACE PARTY IN MY ROOM!!!!
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning in
Africa, a lion wakes up.
It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

SO...I looked at the 2011 schedule. Assuming they do the events the same time each year, IT WILL BE MY BIRTHDAY WEEKEND!

Put a candle on my Cliff Bar!

*GASPT*   Just dawned on me...that 2012 will be my last birthday in my 40's !  OKAY, MAJOR WAY TO CELEBRATE!!
