Its Working!!!
I know this is a drop-in-the bucket for you advanced folks but I'm a little excited.
After my 3 miler, coming home break, then cutting the grass for an hour (I think probably the eqivalent of a 5 mi walk except pusing and turning a mower; you guys do that too right?)
First solid 2 on, 2 off, 3 on (started with a HIIT day of 8x100 sprints in a total 3.5 mi workout),1 off, 2 on workout period while doing a protein bar variant of the pre-op liver shrinking diet:,....drum roll,....besides dropping 5 mins on my 3 mi jog/walk yesterday,..I took courage to step on the scales this morning at 4:30 a.m and I have dropped,...yes,...applause from the gallery!!!....13 pounds (285 to 272) in 10 days.
I know I should be banished for getting back up to 285 but I did. And now I am serious about getting back to my post low of a stable 234 or lowest of 224, or maybe even going for that illusive personal goal of 200 I have yet to make.
Game on. Cardiologist appointment next Wednesday to make the weight loss official. Then its on to that first pleteau thingy on my way back down!!!! Wanted to share with somene that would appreciate the accomplishment. Thanks for taking a peek.

Way to get back on track. I know you were down for awhile with all your hip and surgeries, which can really throw you for a loo. It's good that you are pushing it again. You'll do great. Us more "mature" guys need to get these other honest. Banishment is not an option, you are in this with all of us for the long haul, so you might as well get use to it.

Way to get the boat righted Joe. I am with you on the lawn mowing. I have worn my GPS watch and it is 2.5 miles to mow the large part of my lawn. The exercise is exactly why I have held out on the riding mower. It is free exercise.
Keep up the good work!

The only thing harder than losing weight, is losing it AGAIN. Congrats on going for it! You are in the right place - there is no banishment.
That push mower is great cross-training!

As everyone else said, banishment is not an option, only love and encouragement here. Way to go getting back on the wagon and working your tool again. I admire your courage and strength.
All the best.

You can do it, Joe!! I know I haven't been on the boards for quite awhile--but I wanted to let you know that getting back on track and taking maintenance as a lifelong goal is AWESOME and WONDERFUL!!
I am so glad that you are moving your body and getting back to where you want to be! You deserve kudos. We all are in control of how we move and what we put in our mouths--every day is a new opportunity to get back on the horse. Eventually, we'll stay in the saddle!
I started running last June and you would be surprised at how far I've come since I first started the beginner's running plan. This week I ran 55 miles, with a long run of almost 21 miles. Now, if I can do it, anyone can. You are doing great with your distances and you will feel better and better as time goes on and your muscles develop and your heart and lungs adapt.
Just be sure you're fitted for the right shoes at your local running store! It makes a world of difference!

Thanks for sharing in my happiness and the support. Your constant accomplishments and dedication is part of what got me fired upi to ge going again too. I missed participating rather than reading about your successes and just being happy with officiating. The road work really is a different animal and while tuff, very rewarding in many ways.
Thanks again guys and dolls. :O) Joe
