preparing myself for a childhood obesity walk or run on Oct 2nd
I have been working out 7 days a week. I do cardio every single day and strength training 3 times a week. I was walking and running on the treadmill but now start to walk and run on the inside track at Bally's. 13 laps equals 1 mile. I am trying to work up to 5 miles as I am doing a 5 mile run for childhood obesity on Oct 2nd so I am getting my body ready for this biggest challenge. So what I do is walk 1 lap then run the next to all the 13 laps are done by rotating every other one. So I start off my workout on Sunday with 45 min of weight training using the machines. Then I walk/run 13 laps, then did 250 crunches on the sit up board where the back of the board comes up with you. Then I went to do the cross ramp and did 65 min on that. Then went up the stairs again and did another 13 laps on the track. So my first day on the track and I did total of 2 miles. Then later in the evening I try to get my daughter to exercise with me all she wants to do is sit in front of the tv. So I was trying to motivate her. So I got up and put on the Jillian 30 day shred and did level 1 its like 20 min plus a warm up and cool down. And also did my ball exercises of 200 crunches and 100 push ups.
Monday workout walk/run 13 laps, crossramp 33 min, walk/run 13 laps, stairmaster 32 min, walk/run 13 laps on track. And each time I did 13 laps I did 200 crunches on the sit up board. So total of 3 miles on Monday.
Tuesday workout walk/run 13 laps, powerflex class which is a strength training class with free weights/barbell did 60 min, step aerobic class 60 min, walk/run 13 laps, weight training 30 min, walk/run 13 laps, And each time I did 13 laps I did 200 crunches on the sit up board.
Wednesday workout walk/run 13 laps, cross ramp 65 min, walk/run 13 laps, crunches did 200 crunches on the sit up board, then walk/run 13 laps. It takes me about 20 min to do each 13 laps. Sometimes 15 if I run fast or run more than 1 lap at a time.
Thursday workout walk/run 13 laps, stairmaster 32 min, walk/run 13 laps, cross ramp 35 min, walk/run 13 laps so total of 3 miles and again 200 crunches but only 2 times instead of 3 times due to my shoulder blades are badly bruise and the bone in them is sticking out. So I called the doctor from the gym. I ended my workout early and stop doing the crunches since it was causing me pain. Well she said it was from the sit up board and with all the weight I loss that my skin is very sensitive and the friction and rubbing of my skin on the hard surface cause the bruising and pain that I have right now. I told her I was doing it on the ball and was trying another way where it didn’t' hurt my tail bone. She said because my body hasn't caught up to the weight loss I have places that have no cushioning now and can easily damage my tail bone or my shoulder blades. So she said no more hard surfaces to do my sit up and crunches that I need to do all of them on the ball. So I start that again today. I am glad I didn't do more damage then I did. I was worried that I pop out my shoulder blade.
Friday workout walk/run 13 laps, weight training 45 min, walk/run 13 laps, cross ramp 33 min, walk/run 13 laps, stairmaster 22 min did less so I could get in one more set of laps on the track, walk/run 13 laps, crunches on the ball did 2 sets of 200 crunches only and then 50 push ups. So today I made it thru 4 miles. I am getting closer to my 5 mile goal even though I am walking and running every other lap. I am trying to improve my endurance and need to build it up.
I have been mixing up my cardio lately and taken a few different classes to help break the plateau that I was on and also to work other muscles that haven't been work. I enjoy the power flex class it was the 2nd time I took it. Step class was the first time I took it and last week I did a hi/lo aerobic class and right after did the power flex class. I still notice that my calorie burn is much more on the cardio machines. And my total steps as well. My husband bought me early birthday present which is August 17th I will be 46. He got me the body bugg. And I love it. Keeps track of my steps, calories burned, and online you put in what you eat and tells you how much calories you ate, protein, carbs, fat, etc. Then it figures out if you have a deficit or surplus. I am usually in the deficit. It tells you how much you should be burning, how many steps and how many calories you need to eat. It has a graph to show how hard you are working out, steps, and calories in graph. I had start off with 10,000 steps and now bump it to 12,000 steps. Today I walk out of the gym at 13702 steps so far this morning. and calories burn 1504 and I need to burn 2500 calories a day. It figure out how many calories when you are sleeping and when you just sitting on the computer, watching tv and when you are exercise. When you reach your goal for the day for steps, activity level and calories burn each one will beep when each one is met and give you the time it was met too. Pretty neat thing to have.
Yes I am still eating healthy and drinking my water. All my labs came back good except for my iron is low as well as my protein. So had to increase my iron as well as my protein. I was getting in 80 to 90 gms of protein so now I am trying to get in 100 or more. The other day got my protein up to 115 gms. Doctor told me to add in more protein shakes or bars. So that is what I am doing. I try to have one before and after my workouts. Sometimes in the middle of long workout I will go take a bite of my protein bar. And finish the rest when I am done. They are low in sugar as well. I eat multi grain cheerios with skim milk strawberries and banana every morning to give me enough energy for my workouts in the morning. I eat salads with no dressing and either have chicken or turkey on it. I eat a lot of chicken breast, tuna, turkey. I stay away from bread. I love to eat my fruit as well. Usually have them when I am having my salad. I am eating between 1400 to 1600 calories a day.
I also broke my plateau as well again I am currently at 142.6 lbs my highest was at 317.5 back on Jan 2009. My 1 yr anniversary is coming up next wednesday on July 28th. Wow 1 yr already. I love to exercise now and really enjoy going to the gym every day. I have never done a walk or run before.
My kids are going to do the 2 mile walk and my doctor believes I can do the 5 mile run and says I don't have to run the whole time that I can walk too or mix it up.
I am scared of gaining the weight back too. I was at 142 the last 2 days and notice I seem to work myself harder when I have even a small gain. I know it could be water or muscle. I hope I am able to maintain my weight loss once I am at my goal. I am in my doctor goal of 140 to 150. My goal is 130 to 140. Some of my online friends tell me I am coming anoxeric which I am not I love to eat yet. I am just addicted to exercise now. I use to hate to exercise and now I like to do more things. I like to change up my routine as I notice that my body gets use to the routine.
