Opinions needed regarding martial arts

So besides the broken toe from TaeKwonDo (TKD), I have really been enjoying the classes. It gives me a sense of accomplishment and it is such a good work out. I never thought I would ever enjoy working out, but this is fun! Well, 7 years ago I had to have my appendix removed and I ended up with a severe infection and needed to have 5 surgeries in 9 days. I have a ton of scar tissue in my abdomen. Well yesterday I had practice and when I got home, there was a huge bruise forming under on of the old incision sites. I'm thinking that some scar tissue may have pulled away from regular tissue or something. This scares me because I am afraid that if it could happen to an incision site that old, that something could happen to my new incisions from the VSG. I'm afraid that I might hurt myself. This is really frustrating because I love the TKD classes. I don't want to quit....I'm just not sure if it is too risky right now. What are your opinions?

Talk with your doctor.  Mine just told me no more contact sports where I might get an abdominal injury because of some surgery related complications I have had.

Hopefully it is just as you described and not going to be a big deal.  Just some bleeding from the muscle tissue and not likely to affect your internal workings related to your surgery.

But better to be safe and get the doc involved.

Was it a sparring class? My kids are all black belts and I know from experience that even with wearing the body pad, you can still get bruises from sparring. If it was not during sparring, I would definitely check with the DR.

I am only a white belt, no sparring allowed yet. Nothing hit my stomach during the entire work out.

You'te not that far out of your WLS and its possible you may still be healing from this. I really would consult with your doc, you may find that even if you have to give it up for now, you may be able to take it up later.
