Finished my first half! Race report later.
Way to gut it out! Walking a sub 20 pace for 13 miles is quite an accomplishment! (on top of walking 13 miles at ANY pace!)
Congrats to the hubby, too! That's an amazing job for his first Half!

Thanks Sue.
I walked the first 10 miles with a friend who did 17.49 minute miles on average. Around mile 8.5, our coach caught up to us (he was going from teammate to teammate and spending time with each) and asked how we were doing. I told him my legs were getting a little stiff and he wanted me to slow down, but my friend doesn't slow down and he knew I was trying to keep up with her because she would keep stopping to wait for me. So he went ahead and talked to our mentor who wasn't doing this race but handing ou****er at mile 10.2 and told her I needed to slow down. When we got up to her, she told my friend that she would walk the rest of the way with me so my friend could go ahead at her pace. Her husband had come for support and was riding his bike along side us so he stayed with her and my mentor walked with me. After that, I must have really slowed down. Didn't realize how sore my legs had gotten because in training, I was averaging a 17.5-18 minute mile. I was actually disappointed at the 19.10 pace at the end, but so happy I finished.

Awesome job. congrats to you and your husband.
I hope that your next couple days of rest and recovery are filled with fond memories of the race, and not sore aching muscles. It gets better each time you do one.
My first 1/2 marathon about killed my legs for a week, the second one I didn't even notice any discomfort past the second day, and other than the blisters I have, this last one hasn't caused any grief at all.
Keep up the great work, you have accomplished a great task.

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
Thanks Scott. Actually, the afternoon after the race on Sunday, I had arranged for hubby and me to get the pampered treatment at a local spa. It included 20 minutes in a "cedar bath" which is like a hot sauna where you are covered in cedar chips and the heat just really seeps into you, followed by 75 minute deep tissue massages. We were a little stiff Monday morning, but have felt great ever since. I think we'll make it a tradition, do a race, have a massage. I highly recommend it.

Wow, great job. Great to see a husband and wife team so inspiring. I know you didn't make the time you wanted but you finished it which is a major accomplishment. I may do a marathon in the future so i really appreciate your post. It's encouraging and inspiring. I am now doing the chair-a-cise (chair-a-cise.com) exercise program so hopefully that will prepare me for my marathon. You and your husband keep up the good work.

Thanks. Looks like a great program to get started with. Good luck with it. I need to do more weights, sometimes I feel like my legs get all the exercise. Next for me is the couch to 5K (www.c25k.com) program. Good luck to you!
