Finished my first half! Race report later.

I finished!  Almost didn't think I would, last three miles my legs were really hurting, and I didn't finish in 4 hours like I wanted, but I finished.  It was an absolutely incredible experience and I cried when I crossed the finish line.  Just want to say also that it was my husband's first half marathon, and he ran it and finished in 2:14:14.0.  I'm so proud of him.  Not bad for a 50 year old dad. Oh, and Team Challenge made up 20% of the racers and we raised $2.2 million for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.

I have to take my son to college orientation this week, so I'll write a race report next weekend.

Congratulations.  It is such a great feeling to finish a race.  Now you have your PR so you can go after it next time.  Great cause you were running for.

I absolutely would (as I'm west coast myself) but I'm going to be in the south of France running a 1/2 marathon through the vinyards there - I know! it's a fabulous race "Semi marathon du provence" and they give you a bottle of wine at the finish line instead of a medal.

i'm going with a large group to do the Las Vegas Rock N' Roll in December (5th I think). Think you could do a 3rd race this year?

Team Challenge is doing the Vegas one, but I don't think I can fund raise twice in one year.  December is bad for me as my kid's in school.  Local races during the school year are good though.
The France one sounds great.  Can't wait to hear all about it.  How did  you find it?  Are you going to travel before or after?

We'll have to find another race to go together to.

I found the one in France through friends in Europe. We've put together a merry little band that go for a long weekend. I travel a great deal both internationally and domestically for work so heading to France for a couple of days isn't a big deal.

As for another race, I'm challenging myself to do a 1/2 marathon a month for the entire year in 2011 (and maybe the London Marathon if I win a spot). My current schedule looks like this - want to come to any?

January - Phoenix or Maui
Feb - Pasadena, Ca
March - Dallas, Tx
April - London or San Francisco
May - Orange county
June - San Diego
July - Seattle or San Francisco
August - Chicago
September - Sydney Australia
October - San Jose
November - San Francisco
December - Las Vegas

Keep me posted and I'll see.  I also want to challenge myself to run a 5K.  So we'll see how it goes.  Though I love the idea of Australia.  I'm doing Kona, Hawaii July 2011 with Team Challenge.  That's the only one I know of for now.  My DH also talks of maybe doing a tri-athalone.

Love your dedication though.  We'll keep in touch.
