seemed like a long article to state the obvious, if you eat a big mac super sized meal after your 20 minute stint on the elliptical machine, you're not going to lose weight.  Don't mean to be condescending, but seems like that's not rocket science.

I think many people may not be aware of their increased hunger because of exercising. I think the benefit of reading the article for me is to be more aware of increased hunger (not Big Mac type hunger since that's not possible for me right now, but more subtle hunger that I might give in to) and reduced energy for the remainder of the day after a good workout. I also found the studies to be interesting.

you're right - I think I am so focused for the last year on counting calories and calculating my deficits on a daily basis that maybe I'm a too much of a nerd on the subject :)  Of course being a bander, I haven't really dealt too much with the hunger piece of it, except for when I do serious endurance training and it kicks in - even then if I pick right (which isn't always) its hard for me to run a calorie surplus without getting stuck or feeling completely sick still!

Thanks for posting it, the studies were interesting.

No amount of excercise can compensate for a poor diet. I try to never get hunger, so I eat every hour AT LEAST... 4000 - 5000 calories a day does the trick for me... Thanks for the read, where do I get a refund for admission paid? Just  teasin (Kind of) :)

I didn't actually read this article, but I know from experience that you still have to be careful and eat well while you exercise.  However what it DOES do is improve your cardiovascular health and lipid levels (well, and overall health in general).  It's also a great help in the maintenance game.  That's the main reason I do it.

That article made some questionable statements too. For example, there is no study that shows that exercising makes it *harder* to lose weight. Plus, they really under-emphasize that if you exercise and don't eat those extra calories, you lose weight faster than if you don't exercise and just reduce calories.
