The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
great report and story Scott. One thing you are absolutely correct about is "THIS IS HARD", because if it was easy then everybody would do it. but guess what, not everybody CAN do it, in fact you are now in an elite category, a person who has trained, entered, and completed a 70.3 triathlon. you should be extremely proud of yourself.
Where are we going?? And why am I in this handbasket??
right now. somewhere. somebody is working harder than you.

Congratulations on finishing!
I can totally empathize with the "yeah I finished" and "crap, I didn't go as fast as I wanted". I haven't, however, come close to doing a 70.3 so I take my hat off to you. The marathon you're thinking of doing in 2011 will seem like a piece of cake comparatively. :)
I've been eying Barb's Race (the girls version of the vineman 70.3) for years. Maybe I'll see you out there next year.
You rock. :)

I was planning to do Barb's Race but ended up switching to the full aquabike. Only 1.5 more weeks!

Great report Scott. I'm so impressed by your sheer determination to get through the run despite the cramps and the blisters, especially since we know how much you love running. It would have been so easy to give up and blame the DNF on your setback with the broken collar bone. But, you didn't. You set your goals and you accomplished them. Your strength and determination are an inspiration.
Congratulations!

Wow Scott, that was an excellent write up of your race and your road leading up to it. You're an inspiriation to those of us who can't even fathom signing up for or competing in an event like the one you did yesterday. Congratulations on your accomplishment, you deserve it.
