Hello All, Any bikers out there, I am currently training for a bike ride to raise money for Kidney Disease. I am a Dialysis Nurse Educator. I have been a bike rider for the last six years but got side tracked with marriage and a baby. I got back on my bike about 6 months ago planning for this ride. The ride is 240 miles in Seattle Washington over three days to keep awareness about the increasing number of people being affected by kidney disease mainly our black population. Our patients are getting younger and younger due to high blood pressure and diabetes. Please check out my donor page at

I have completed triathlons (swim, bike, run) and duathalons ( swim and run). I have a love for these sports that came late in life. I have gotten used to being the only black sister and usually the heaviest. LOL. I was just wondering does anyone ride out there for exercise?

My love of exercise came about 10 years ago, I wanted something different than frequent trips to the gym, I wanted to something that not a lot of our black sisters find interesting due to hair issues. Well I have locks and have had them for well over 15years, I have swimmer with them down my back, had special swim caps made etc. I just recently cut 20inches of my locks off.

Well, back to the subject at hand, check in with your family and keep check on the silent killer high blood pressure and diabetes, to keep our kidneys healthy. Kidney Disease cost our nation more than 30 millions dollars a year and changes lives dramatically.
