curse you clip ons.. my first spill
Had my first spill on the bike today. I have an awesome war wound on my side behind, I assume it will be a great black and blue by morning. It wasn't totally my fault.. I wanted to cross over the road to turn back for home, so as I slowed down, like a well trained boy I remembered to clip out my left foot.. just as I was stopping and putting the foot down, a car comes flying right by, and I naturally then leaned right.. oops.. still clipped in over there... down I went to the pavement... Guess I learned that lesson.. unclip both feet when stopping!
You also want to make sure you unclip the foot that is on the downhill side of any road first.
I had that happen last year.
Those 0 mph falls are more embarassing than anything else. Yeah they hurt, but they hurt the ego more in most cases.
Welcome to the club!

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
I have wrecked both trying to clip in and trying to unclip and yeah... it sucks, and u feel like a jack ass, but at least u didnt fall in the direction of the moving car!!!

I thought I was the only one that done stunts like that....and you are never by yourself when it happens. I always manage to do it when there are no less than 10 people around. I have done that 3 times since I got my pedals.
One time was riding and I needed to use the outhouse on the path, I approached the stop, and I always unclip my left leg first and for some reason, my brain said I was going to put my right leg down. My small brain got all confused, forgot to brake and ran head first into the building. My first reaction was to look and see how many people were looking, of course about 8 people were standing around the picnic area.
Way embarrassing.

I know how you are feeling I had a bad fall with my clip on also. Recently had to purchase new one due to the fact I have two broken toes and after 5 weeks they are still swollen, I found some that were wider and did not rub on my toes, so back on my bike I go. I have been biking for the last six years and just had surgery three weeks ago. I have completed triathlons, duathalons, marathon and half marathon in the last six years but have had most difficult time getting my weight under 180lbs and staying there. I am so tired of being the heaviest one in all my races.
Uh, maybe I won't take up biking. I have a hard time with the clips on the stationery recumbent at the gym... Or maybe I will ride without clips? I don't like to fall and go boom.
Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.

It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.
