Who here uses a gowear fit/bodybugg? Do you love it or is it just a gimick? I've been using an iphone app that tracks calorie intake, but outtake is purely a guess. As such, something like the GoWear/BodyBugg would be a good fit.
Is it just me, or does their website suck? How do these two products differ? I recognize they are both made by the same company.
I don't own one, but was talking with a guy at the gym who has one on every day. He thinks it has been pretty accurate. He said the same thing, both made by the same company.
His came with 1 year of service. Bought it at Costco
Good luck I hope you find some first hand knowledge of the product.

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
i believe some people on the RNY board have these kinds of things, so you might want to check with them. I've heard some positive reviews, but haven't used it myself.

When I think about the expense of one of these, I'm just not sure I see the value. I know how many calories I should be cosuming and that I should exercise each day. But, it does sound like the people who have them, enjoy them. The gadget I would rather get is a wrist Garmin so that I could track miles, elevation, and min/mile.
Ok. So I'm a gadget freak and try everything.
I have had the body bugg.
The good - it's cool to see during the day where your calorie burn is. I would totally geek out on the reports and such and see where I had little bursts of calorie burning.
Their online tracking tools are great. Good dashboards etc. However you still have to diligently log all your food and there isn't an app for your handheld unless you use a browser on your iphone.
The bad - after about a week of using it you can tell your general calorie burn. It wasn't significantly over or under what I would get from running calculations using online tools (RMR etc). The coolness of seeing the calories wore off pretty quickly. Plus as we're running a pretty significant calorie deficit (or at least I am) it's depressing when the scales don't go down as fast as the numbers say they should. The body is an odd thing, while it's about the math, it's also not about the math.
Lastly, there's a monthly fee to keep it going past the first 6mo (or maybe year, don't remember).
Now I also have the Garmin 405 to track my running (built in GPS etc). I would cry BIG BUCKETS OF TEARS if I lost it. Well I wouldn't cry, I'd just go buy another one.
I find measuring my fitness level much more motivating. I've also been tracking how much faster I'm getting the more weight I lose.
Hope this helps. J

I have friend who have them and like them. But they all say the same thing, they used them for a while, but when the subscription ran out, they stopped.
What I'd like to do is rent one for a month just to get an idea of how accurate my other formulas are then tweak my other formulas and use them.
