Quick question-numbness???

Hi everyone, I am new to this board.  I normally lurk in the Roux-En-Y forum, but I am home now from surgery with LOTS of time on my hands (had surgery last week) and I was thinking about how I am going to try different things with exercise when I am given the ok to exercise again.  I have a question though about the elliptical.  I love this machine, feels like a great workout and I feel very accomplished when done, however, when I am on it, after about 7 or eight mins, one or both of my feet go numb.  Does anyone else have this issue?  Know how to fix it?

Thanks guys!
Lisa

I don't know the fix, but the very same thing hapens to me.  Ive always thought it probably had to do with circulation issues- hope someone has some insight.

sorry, no insight, i don't really use the elliptical.  however, if something is uncomfortable or causing discomfort (as in numbness), i would suggest altering what you are doing regarding cadence and/or resistance until it is more comfortable.  after that, you can start to build from there over time... or try some other cardio machines.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

It is pretty common. It happens to me more running than on the elliptical. My Dr. explained that the vein on the top of my foot gets pressure as my feet swell from exercise. She suggested loosening the shoe ties when it happens.

with me it is always at Mile 3 when running, feeling comes back at mile 4. google numb feet and elliptical though. I found lots of stuff before I spoke with my doctor. I was worried about circulation but my Dr. is not worried at all. good luck!
