I had gastric bypass on June 15th and found a personal trainer. Does anyone know when I can start working out?

When your doc releases you to. You can walk immediately but strength training will be up to the dr. usually 6 weeks or so after surgery.

It's always interesting to hear this question asked...  I wonder why people would trust the advice of some folks on a forum versus their Surgeon. Every surgeon is different and these things should and are typically discussed BEFORE surgery. Anyways, I think it is AWESOME that you want to get in shape, I would just consult with your Surgeon before you take the advice of Family, friends, and everyone else. Rock on!!!

As soon as your surgeon gives you permission.  You should already be walking a lot.  Not sure what other work out you are referring to?  Weights?  Check with your surgeon.  Swimming?  Check with your surgeon.   Everything else.  Check with your surgeon.
