This heat is never going away.  Got in a 31-mile bike ride this evening.  Was feeling guilty about not running so I got out real late and took off into the soupy Pennsylvania foothills.  Got home just as it was getting dark.

Hi all! I'm going to start posting on your daily workouts to keep myself accountable. I'm training for a 5k, trying to follow Hal Higdon's schedule. The race is at the end of August, then I'm on to a 10k in November.

Today's workout: 1.75 miles running at around 11.5 min/mile. 1 mile brisk walking.

Being out in the sun all day as a security guard can really drain me.  The nice thing about one site is I'll sit (on and off) for about 50 minutes (air conditioned and outside), then walk for about 10...The other site I'm walking about 4-5 miles during a shift (in the California sun).  Today on my day off, I rode my bike for errands.  Rode to the bank, store, coffee shop, and went looking for sun glasses.  Also ran errands in the car and weeded the front yard.  I'm pooped...

Rest day for me...
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning in
Africa, a lion wakes up.
It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Wow, I am completely inspired. I walked 3 miles on treadmill. Yesterday, I walked 2.5 and jogged a .5 mile.
