Riding my bike and youth hostels...

Was thinking of doing day trips to Monterey or San Francisco in the next week or two (take my bike along and go riding).  Then I thought (instead of spending well over $100. a night) of going to a youth hostel.  So here is my question.  Not looking at the internet, can those of you in the know, tell me what are the two or three largest hostel networks in the US?  If you don't know...no need to answer.  I know there are 2 or 3 different networks...I don't want to go with just what is on the internet...How they can push # 1 ranking on Google.  So those of you who know...(without looking)...I'd love to hear from you.  Thanks, Brian

When I went to San Francisco back in '06, we camped just over the bridge (pretty much at the base...one of the most beautiful campsites I've ever stayed at) and we used the showers at the hostel associated with the park...I can go back and look it up, but I'm pretty sure it was a National Park campground and the hostel was affilated with them.

Sure if you would that would be cool.  Is that the one near Fisherman's Warf (Fort Mason).  One of the big questions for me is parking in SF and if my bicycle and truck will be safe...  Just pipe dreaming right now...but it's a very easy and doable pipe dream with very little cost.  YMCAs were a great idea (100 years ago).  Now it seems like most of them are in the rougher part of a city and may not be as user friendly...
