TONING UP

I see a lot of little me in here, but i cant get my legs and stomache toned. The skin hangs eww so gross.
i work out daily 20mins on eliptical and 45 on the treadmill 200sit ups, 50leg lifts and 5mins wts. What to do? Nothing helps

Well, depending on your age the skin may not go away.  However, are you doing any weight training besides 5 minutes?  I do sets of three and I make sure I can't hardly do another rep by the end.

Are you increasing your intensity in the exercising you are doing now?  You have to do a balance.  The goal for you would be to get muscle tone and burn off that stored fat.

What your goal should be to exhaust all the sugar that is metabolized in your system during your workout and then go do some core work that will burn off that stored fat.

I vote for weight training too.  I do a four day routine, on two days I do chest, triceps, legs & abs, and on the other two I do back, shoulders, biceps and abs.  I do 45 minutes of weights, and then 35-45 minutes of cardio.  The weight training has REALLY helped!!!!

hanging skin isnt really corrected by working out.  But it can look nicer if you get toned.  I think you should work with a trainer to develop a 30-60 minute weight routine, and do that 3 times a week.  Cardio 3-4 times a week (1-2 days off)

Hiya Debby -

Cardio burns calories and fat, but to get toned you need to add some more weights and resistence.  I would suggest P90X or Chalean Extreme, another program from beachbody - both to get you amazing toned results without paying for a gym membership, trying to figure out a routine or paying for a personal trainer.  Just pop in a dvd at home and go.  And they've got the whole 'muscle confusion' science nailed.  Your body is very smart and picks up quick on a routine that you do over and over and soon will adjust to 'protect' itself and wont burn or tone from it.  Check out my beachbody page and let me know if you have any questions.  But if you dont want a home workout program, come up with some various weight and resistence routines that you change up daily so your body does not know what to expect and you will see results.
