Hi Andrea! Nice to see you here. I'm not much of a runner, I just do walk/jog intervals on the treadmill, but I just wanted to say hello! I'll let the more experienced runners here give the advice. There are some runnin' ANIMALS in here...

perhaps on the treadmill (or whereever) you could modify the C25K by doing your usual jog pace when it says walk, and then upping your speed where it says run.

Congrats on completing your first 5K - whoohoo!

Welcome, Andrea!

Not everyone may agree with me here, but if you work on your speed, you will also increase your endurance by improving your cardio system.  The c25k suggestion is one I've made off and on when people are trying to get faster.  The thing is, to get faster, you have to run faster.  Interval work is fabulous for that.  I don't know what your run speed on the TM is, but I would try starting with it anywhere between 5.5 and 6.0.  It may seem hard at first, but it's totally do-able especially since you only do it for 1 minute at a time the first week.  As you progress, your mileage will increase also.  Oddly enough, most people have better running form when they go faster anyway.

My 2 cents...

So let me see if I'm understanding you correctly?

Do C25K, but do it with running/jogging stints versus jogging/walking stints?

Hey Andrea.  Nice to see you.

Linn is absolutely correct.  To run faster you have to run faster.  Sounds stupid but that is all there is too it.  When I set a personal best this spring it was after months of speed work whi*****luded mile repeats.  I would run a mile at a fast pace, rest by walking for about 3 minutes and run another mile at a fast pace.  I would do 4 repeats for a 5K.  The C25K with jogging and running is a great start.
