10K PR, Celebrate America Race Report

Ok so it's cheating a bit calling this a PR as this was my first race at this distance.  It was a good race, temp was good, course is good (about as flat as it gets in this part of GA with some small rollers and one little hill).  Course was a two loop course shared with the 5K-ers who just did the first loop.  This was my first race ever last year and I finished the 5K with a 28 and change, this year i finished the 10K in 50:13, I really really really wanted to break 50, but there is always next time.  Only issue on the day was a pretty serious downpour during the first loop, but i'm not sure if that helped or hurt my race.  Have a good holiday everybody!

Have a wonderful Holiday!

It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

way to go!  I have a 10k coming up the week after next.. part of me says next year I need to focus on one distance - I never know what pace to use week to week!  Sub 8 in any distance is great to me though!

Awesome!  sub-8 pace is definitely reason to celebrate.

Nice job, Bill!

That's actually my favorite distance although I haven't done one in a while.

Take care!
