Nike free - what's ur opinion on running barefoot?

My opinion is go for it if you have the desire. I also feel like it's a bit of a fad. If you do decide to do it, ease into it very slowly. I'd start with something like a quarter mile 3 times a week for a few weeks. I'd work up from there. It is going to take a long time to strengthen those foot muscles that we have not needed because of wearing shoes for our entire lives.

Thanks, Scott. I am leaning that way because I've been told barefoot runners never have running related injuries.

I always perk up when someone uses an absolute like "never"..

I have a couple friends that "barefoot run"  They swear by it.
However they also said that it is a painful learning experience.
It was very uncomfortable at first until they became accustomed to it, and that you get instant feedback in the form of pain if you are "running incorrectly"

Like Scott said, it is a FAD! They say that your injuries can be dramatically reduced due to the fact that it is almost impossible to heel strike running in those things... Anyone who runs a lot is prone to overuse injuries regardless if they run in Stiletos, shoes, or Vibrams... Get em if it floats your boat... I think these things will pass like the coveted "Shape-Ups".... GIMIC, GIMIC, GIMIC....

Guess how many people I saw wearing these things at the Rocky Raccoon 100 Mile trail run this year... GOOSE EGG.
