I had a nice 4.5 mile run this morning with my running group. It was supposed to be 5 but I was not sure of the route so I shorted myself a half mile. We were doing the route for a 8K on June 6th. I am slower than all but two in the group so us three slow pokes were not sure how the route was supposed to end.

I did about a 6.8 mile trail run in about an hour and 15 mins. Ended with a face plant, more like a body plant in the dirt. Adults should not fall, it hurts!

Sunny 6.57 mile run for me. Just couldn't pull out my 10.5 today...
Improved pace though to 10:07...so as Martha Stewart would say, "It's a good thing...."
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning in
Africa, a lion wakes up.
It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

I did the St. Vincent's Geist Half Marathon today.  It was a tough 13.1 miles for me this time.  Not because of a lack of training but because of  the heat and humidity and allergies.  Just couldn't move any air through my nose.  It caused me to mouth breathe and that put a lot of air into my pouch causing me abdominal distension and making it very  hard to breath.  I'll write a full report later.

2-hour swim clinic with a local college swim coach.  He tried to cover his 8-week program in 2 hours for our 70.3 training group.  Drill 25, Swim 25. Repeat.  By the end of the 2 hours, he had advice for each of us to improve our technique.

Half marathon tomorrow, nice and slow.

I think I had the best workout day since surgery today, at least in terms of fun.  Started at 7am with a 100 holes of golf charity event.  Basically 18 holes of golf and we played 5 or 6 balls on each hole.  Used to be, 18 holes of golf would utterly wipe me out.. but I got done around noon, and went to work in the garden for a few hours.  Then I went over to the soccer fields with my son and his friends, planning to just kick the ball around a bit.. well, we ended up getting into a pickup game with some of the local Latino fellas (who are incredible soccer players), and 3 hours later we're all wiped out.

Just gets me that a year ago there would have been no way I could have had such fun like I did today - i feels great to be in a "good" shape!

No real workout but I went to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and walked for about 2 hours straight. My legs hurt now!
