Do you run with a camelback?
I had my 6 month post-op visit today. I have begun distance running over the past 2 months and I am now up to 3.50 miles. I have my first 5k this Saturday. A problem I have been having running is I get super dehydrated and the PA suggested using a camelback while running. I used one when I deployed to Iraq the first time but that was because it was mandatory since we were wandering around in the desert in the summer. I liked using it back then. Would you suggest a camelback while running? Any other hydration method?

i use a camelback on my longer rides (anything over 30 miles or so), and on my long hikes (>3 hours), but i haven't used it running. i have a fuel belt i use for running that is more comfortable, it holds two 10oz bottles of liquid and has a pocket for phone etc and a pouch for gels. there are a number of fuel belts you can use with varying sizes of bottles (my father uses one that has two 20oz bottles on it). i typically will only carry hydration with me if the run is over 10 miles, but that is my preference. best thing is to shop around and buy what you think you will use. good luck!
Where are we going?? And why am I in this handbasket??
right now. somewhere. somebody is working harder than you.

I use a fuel belt as well. Two 10 oz. bottles, which are drained at the end of 10.5 miles. Holds my blackberry and gels as well. I like it, and it doesn't interfere with my run if I turn it backwards so my arms don't brush against the bottles.
Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.

It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

The first of riding I used a camelback and all of my long rides (>50 miles). Since then I have gone to just fueling with disposable water bottles. I hate have things on my back. Once a camelback is empty it is useless. There is a reason you don't see pro cyclists with waterpacks. Plus it easier to take a short 5-minute break to run into a convenience store to buy cold water
Running I just carry my fluid by hand. Check out the RRS Quickdraw Plus Hyration Carrier. I have seen people lay out their replacement bottles along their course prior to their runs, but that is too much work. Not a big fan of the belts because I can never get them to stay on halfway through a run.
Good luck.

At Big 5, I found the ironman brand of fuel belt. The belt is stretchy, and rides really well on my waist/hips. I do have to turn it around so the pouch is in back, and the two bottles ride on the back of my hips. That way, my arms aren't brushing against the bottles when I run. Pretty easy to slide it around a grab the bottles.

I am using the Amphipod ultra low profile fuel belt for my runs. It is one bottle that goes in back and has an elastic thingy that holds it in. I have been able to just reach around, unsnap it an drink without stopping. It is not very bouncy, which I like.

It holds 20 oz, which is normally okay. Today it was warm out, I didn't feel well and had 8 miles on the schedule. I arranged my run so that there was a place to refill at about 5 miles. It worked out fine.

i carry a water bottle that comes with a hand grip and has a small pouch for keys or gels. I'm not sure how many oz it holds.. 16 maybe? it seems to be enough for me to get small sips along the way and lasted through a 10 mile race.
