Thanks........it was huge.  Did a seminar tonight, showed my surgeon my bib and medal........he said wow that's  a huge accomplishment (LOL).  Told him my time and pace.........he said wow that makes me really tired.  And when did you do that?  Yesterday before I drove home four hours then got my kids spent time with them went to bed worked all day and then came here to work your seminar...........all in a Post Ops day's work.  He said I don't even know how you do it.............I said it's simple, I was so tired before because I pushed myself, even when I was obese.............so why would I stop now.   Told him I joined a team............he was shocked.........and impressed.  It's bad when even the surgeons don't get it.

He asked me about my workouts as well. His comment was he was glad to see I was so active but worried I would burn myself out. He is a great doc and I wouldn't say anything bad about him but when you have never been in our shoes you can't fully see the big picture.

Well...............I work for him so I know him well.  And I'll leave it at that.  He's a great surgeon, he cares about his patients.  All three of them are really talented caring people.

I'm such the exception for the band particularly in the practice that I worry about that, about misrepresenting it, so I'm honest about that at seminars.  At every seminar there are people either THERE failing their bands or who know patients who have failed them.  And yes, statistically, most of the time the failure is with the user and not the tool.  Not that anyone likes to hear that.  :-)

My friend who had RNY makes me angry because she (she's a speaker) says I'm false advertising.  That ticks me off!!!!

Do they pay you anything for the seminars ? I ask because they mentioned to me that they would like me to do some as well.

That's great! Many had tried running but were not able to get what you had achieved! Maybe you can share at least a few of your techniques to beat the other guys out there.

Thanks Kylee...........LOL technique.  I used a pace group to push myself because I'm uber competitive at heart even if my body doesn't always want to rise to the occasion..........stayed hydrated.  It was a cool day, luckily.

And I still do 5Ks.  I'm still trying to get faster on my short races.  My last 6K training time was a 10:15 for the first 4 pace and a 10:30 for the last two............but I did a water break in between so total time was longer.

10K events or even 8 miler, etc....in my area other than trail are few and far between which is a bummer............it's 5K and then half, it's like why????  So I don't get to test myself in between at the moment, but I'm looking for events.

There are women way faster who are post-op than me I think but I'm not giving up.............I'd love to do a 28 min 5k on the 29th, it's the local Freedom 5K.   It's where I used to train so I'm gonna be pushing myself that much harder since I know the terrain even in the dark!!!

OMG that is AWESOME!!  Truly inspiring!!!!  I just did my first 5k a couple weeks ago - my time wasn't great, but it was actually the first time I've ever run on pavement, LOL....I had NO idea that it would be any different than running on the treadmill (which is what I normally do).  I'm doing another 5k in September, and am hoping to improve my time.  Congratulations - I can't wait to do a half marathon!
