Toning - run or walk??

I'm at goal and have wobbly jelly legs!!  I am using my crosstrainer and treadmill 5x a week and am wondering whether running on the treadmill is gonna tone up those legs or if I should do the fast walk thing maybe on an incline??

Any advice would be appreciated - I'm not likely to get plastics so will have to rely on exercise to get them as good as possible.

Thanks guys

unless you plan on really muscling up big time, I'm not sure anything is going to help "firm up".

I started running and built some lean muscle, burned some more fat and my skin is worse than ever since I got rid of even more fat and firmed up underneath.

I agree with what Sue said.

My legs used to look "smoother" when I was heavier, but now that I've been running so much more they look quite wrinkly...but they're firm as can be underneath all that extra skin!!

Bummer! I wonder if something like yoga/pilates would help?

If the issue is excess skin, then no, not much is going to help.  Skin cannot be exercised away.  If you want to tone up your muscles, then yes, walking, running, yoga, pilates will help.  Might not do what you want appearance-wise, but when you touch your legs you will enjoy some rock hard muscles under the skin, which is pretty cool!

What Sue said....

I have added some nice muscle tone to my legs, but my inner thighs...GOOD GRIEF!
I lift weights to tone my shoulds, biceps, triceps, pecs. Nice tone, but still my upper arms look like a flying squirrel.
My abs are fairly strong, but thsi abdominal skin.... well, whatever!

The loose skin is not going to magically go away, and unfortunately there is not an exercise that will get rid of it...except a drive to the plastic surgeon.

Just embrace your muscle, your improved health, and all the positive effects of your journey!

Hugs,
Kathy

LOVING the exercise so I'm not going to stop! Such a shame to come so far though and still not like what you see in the mirror (naked mind you - I think I look fab dressed!!).

I've always been anti plastic surgery (not really an option in NZ cos SSOOOO expensive anyway) but I can easily see how people want to 'finish' the job once the weight is gone!! Oh and some boobs would be nice!

Cheers Guys

Either of the two would tone up those "wobbly jelly legs" of yours. Running or walking would be a great help in losing your undesired weight. You can also choose between the two, if you think notces that running had a great effect on you, then whats the reason not to contnuew it rigt? So keep it up whatever it is that you have started.
