A Lovely PM I Recieved Today About The Team...
So I got this PM on OH earlier this evening....
Here is what the message said... (Sender to remain anonymous)
"So I am ridding on a team that saying I have WLS? It is hard enough riding road races, then riding them with Weight loss surgery on top of it all over my back would suck to say the least."
MY REPLY:
Well XXXXXX,
I guess we will just have to suck without you... I did 3 marathons 3 ULTRA Marathon events 5 IRONMAN events, and countless road races here in North Texas in the past year, and will be a Media Slot at IRONMAN Arizona this year, and will wear my Team Shirt PROUDLY. I just rode the North Texas Classic on Saturday and if my jersey was ready, I would have worn it then. Sorry you are not proud or happy about your WLS experience and wish you all the best...

Wow,
The point of the team is to encourage each other and other WLS or potential WLS patients.
That's why we want to advertise who we are, and what we have been through.
It's to show them what we/they can accomplish and to let them know that bariatric surgery is a viable and successful means to achieve a healthier life.
Oh well.

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
I cannot wait to wear mine! Worst case scenario, people will ask me questions, and I will get to educate, inform, and do some bragging as well.
Count me in on the "suck factor". LOL

Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.

It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Hey Dan, I wonder if this person was more embarassed being morbidly obese sitting at a buffet, or wearing a shirt that said he or she lost a ton of weight? Go back to the bear claws and pancakes buddy, sounds like the syrup is mentally still in the mouth!
If running shorts with no rumps were race legal, I'd get our PR group tatoo'd on my cheeks!

Dan,
You never told us that these jerseys were going to weigh more because they have the logos on them. Do they have turkey drumsticks attached to them or something. My experience having worn my tech shirst with my before picture and "MIA" during multiple long distance bike rides and marathons, is most people are amazed and impressed with what can be accomplished.
I guess we will have to get by without the PM sender. Shucks, how will we manage.
Rob
No one is forcing this person to be on the team. It's totally voluntary. I'm proud to be on the team. I proud to be among such a great group of people. I'm proud of what I and we have accomplished. I do not want praise for it but I'd like to inspire others just as I've been inspired by all of you.

Wow. Guess this person doesn't need to remember where they came from. Good luck to them. We've got plenty to accomplish without 'em!

It's too bad that they are ashamed about the surgery.

Also, I am getting some responses ready for some negative comments that I may hear while wearing the shirt. Most people are very supportive but there will be some dick faces with negative comments so be prepared.
