My daughter (15), my sis, and I did the Run Like A Girl 5K in Tacoma, WA. Proceeds to the Coalition against domestic violence. This was my daughters first Race, outside of track!
The course was gorgeous, around a golf course, with a spectacular view of the Tacoma Narrows. Down side: killer switchback hills from mile 1.25 - 2.25. But, I managed to run/jog/trot (whatever you would call it) up them!

Stats:
Time: 31:38
Pace 10:18
Avg.mph 5.82

Slower than my  last 5K, but OMG! The hills comiong back up were killer. My sis had to walk most of them.
Here's  my beautiful daughter!! Oh, and me too!

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning in
Africa, a lion wakes up.
It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

I think I talked to you before the race briefly!  I had on a long sleeved pink running shirt and and gray runnin pants. You gad a better time than I did! I  did it in 36 something. The hills were killer, but again it was beautiful and so worth it. I wish I knew how to do the picture thing like you!

Thanks guys!

Hey Mary, to do the pic thing, you just put your pic on a document or in an album, then copy and paste it into the text of your message.  It took me a bit to figure it out.

36 for this route is a good time! I think my hill work at home helped out a bit.

It was a gorgeous day! The 15 minute massage post race was nice too!

Thanks! I will give it a try!
Are you going to do the Maritime run the beginning of June? I think it is a 8 or 5 K. It was a 10 K last year. Nice route if it is similar to last years; started and ended at Costco.

Congrats, what a great thing to do with family.

It sounds like it was a success.

Thanks all!

Mary, I haven't heard about the maritime run. I will look it up.  I was planning on doing a 10K up in Port Angeles on June 6th. It's the North Olympic Discovery Marathon. They have a full, half, 10K and 5K.  The full and half is on mostly trail, then along the Straits...a point to point. The 5 and 10K's start in P.A., at the waterfront, and return same location.

The run is the same day as your other one and I just looked it is only an 8 K. Last year it was a 10., I think I may be mixing up my few races.  My daughter is in the Gig Parade with her school choir doing African drumming so I will stay local for the weekend. I think I am going to sign up for that half  in August that you told me about. I think I should be ready for a half by then and if not I can walk some.
