Hey all....

I'm Pam...had RNY surgery 10/2007 and have maintained a loss of about 110 pounds given the day.  Well, I should say it WAS about 110 pounds but have regained about 10

So if you don't mind I'm gonna jump right in here

I know the reason why...it's cause I'm not exercising like I used to.  One excuse after another.

This week I got back in the saddle and did a 5.5 mile walk

I work overnights, 12 hour shifts as an ER RN so on work days I'm very active with that, but no "formal" exercise.  On nights when I'm doing more than one shift in a row, I cannot (and won't) go to the gym because I have an hour commute each way, a 12 hour shift, and I end up sleeping for 6 hours on those days WITHOUT exercising and less than that is just down right dangerous to my patients.

That being said....I have gotten a personal trainer (have yet to make an appointment), I do LOVE spin class, and am looking for new exercises and just a place to keep accountable.

My presence here may be slightly sporadic depending on work schedules but I will try to stay active here like I do on my "home" board which is the pa one :)

Hello Pam, and welcome!

I had my RNY on 2/9/09. I am down and maintaining a 182 lb. loss, at goal for now.
I hear ya about schedules! I am a clinical supervisor and crisis therapist for high risk teens in therapuetic foster care.  I am on call 24/7, with the exception of every other weekend (for the most part).

By bf is a nurse, and works the 12 hr. shifts...killer to get used to. She was my workout buddy, and actually got me motivated a year ago to join a gym. Where I got hooked on it, she got burned out...large part due to her schedule, and just not having the time to do it all.

Glad you are here, even if sporadically!

Take Care,
Kathy

It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

welcome!  the best ways to keep yourself motivated and accountable are to post everyday on the daily workout thread and set goals (both easily achievable and stretch goals)...
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

Welcome Pam! I'm a sporadic poster as well since I post on my blog and have personal emails that I use to help me and others with weight loss.

I LOVE this forum though! I LOVE the people in it and the inspiration that they have given me, the no judgement encouragement and the acceptance! Great group here!

Look forward to reading your posts and getting to know you!
*hugs*
