Ok, I signed up for a sprint triathalon for August.  I have been doing a cycling class twice a week for 4 weeks and ran my first 5K last weekend.  I am in no way a runner.  I was wondering if anyone has some training advice and/or schedule or know of a good website to visit.  Thanks for all your help.

If you have questions, you can ask here, we have quite a few triathletes,

or

beginner triathlete

They have some free training plans as well as some you have to pay for.
You can get an idea there, plus they have forums available if you have specific questions.

post often and ask specific questions as they crop up.  my advice is to make sure you can swim the distance plus a bit more comfortably (the swim is not the place to exert all your energy), be able to ride comfortably, and most importantly, practice your bricks (bike to run workouts).  the more you understand how your legs will feel during the beginning part of the run after the bike (and when they no longer feel like they are full of lead), the better the experience will be.  best of luck.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

I'm training for my first one in September as well.  The beginner triathlete website mentioned above was great for helping me to develop a training schedule.  I set specific goals to meet each month that I am training and then develop a weekly schedule to increase my time, distance, etc.  I also am running a 5K each month to get the experience of being in that setting.  Make sure you are working all areas.  That website also gives you tips to work on those areas that you have the most trouble and how to increase your abilities in those areas.  Good luck to you!
