Flying Pig Rain Report

This Sunday I did my first Marathon in the loving city of Cincinnati.  Watched my friends run the 5K on Saturday and then  Saturday night I tried to sleep. But that wasn't going to happen.  So I finally got up at 4 am and started my day.  I watched the rain and lighting for about a hour and then got dressed and headed out.  By the time I got to the staging area .6 miles away I was totally soaked even with my nice trash bag rain coat.

At the start of the race I took it slow about 10 min mile.  at 6.8 miles I was at 1:09:31, at the half way mark I was at 2:11:58, at mile 19.7 miles I was at 3:20:59 and I finished with of a time of 4:35:18.

I wanted to finish around 4:30 but I had to stop and use the bathroom at around mile 14, I should of used a bush like everybody else, but I waited for a porta potty.  I walked two water stations and walked a couple of times to let my legs recover, but I ran most of the way,  which I was totally happy about.

By the end of the race I was jumping in the puddles to cool my feet down.  And praying that the Reds statium would come to me, but it didn't.  After I finish I had to keep walking, but all I wanted to do was lay down.  I got back to my hotel room and my ice bath never felt so good.  The 5 hour car ride back to Chicago was very interesting, but today I am back to work walking backwards down the stairs, but I am wearing my Flying Pigs marathon Shirt.

It was a great race and I plan on doing it again next year.

next up the Chicago rock n roll half, then the Chicago Marathon on 10.10.10

Awesome job!  It sounds like the rain didn't dampen your spirits or your goal finish time.  Good luck in Chicago!

It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Way to go!!!  The weather was interesting wasn't it?  Great time on a pretty challenging course.  Those hills sure got my fiancee and I!.
Good luck in Chicago, you should be able to smash that course after doing the pig!
