Saturday Workouts!!!

I had a 3.5 mile race this morning.  Sometimes you have a 30 second PR (last week) and sometimes you crash and burn!  That would be today.  The first mile was wierd in that I could not catch my breath.  My wife says it may be allergies which I have noticed more in the last few years.  It was also hot 75+ but this race has the BEST shirts of any race that I run with the exception of Disney.  Anyway, I still finished in 29:01 which is better than last year but not a course best.

Even when it is not great, it's still better than being fat!  ;)

Anyway, what are you doing today?

I did my longest run yet today - 7.12 miles!

I was totally dragging ass at about mile 5, so I made a pit stop and found a water fountain and finished it out.  There were a few breaks thrown in there, but I'm okay with that.  I'm going to have to figure out this mid-run hydration business on these longer runs.

Breaking the 7 mile mark really made it seem like a half marathon is possible for me....I'm already signed up but I definately thought I was going to be getting dragged over the finish line but now I'm pretty sure I'm going to be running over it!! :)

Today was an easy 4 miler today, followed by a 2-mile walk with the dogs at the Humane Society.  Some of my favorites have fortunately found families to love them, so now I have to make new friends.

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.

It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

ran my first mile since my 10 mile race (and on set of knee tendonitis!).  Knee felt good, lungs felt like hell!  Did i really lose that much cardio ability in 3 weeks?

Anyway, ran 1 mile, walked another 2.5.
