Hi all,
I have been thinking about the different types of exercising I can/should be doing, when walking clicked into my mind. I would like to get a pedometer to measure my distance. What brand and features would you recommend on one, and where did you get it?

In my opinion, pedometers or no good for measuring distance, they are primarily good at counting steps taken. The length of your stride can vary dramatically depending on pace, terrain, etc. Use www.mapmyrun.com if you need to track distance, or buy a heart rate monitor with GPS built into it. Garmin Forerunner 305, 405 etc....

I agree with the above. I really want the Garmin Forerunner, but I plan on waiting a bit until I start running more outside because my HRM works just fine for the Gym/Treadmill. If I had know though, I would have bought the Garmin instead of just a normal HRM (though I do love my Polar F6).

I use the Walking Advantage by Sportline.  It lets you adjust your step length, so the milage is pretty good.  I like to keep track of my steps daily on my calendar.  It keeps me motivated to always try to beat step amount from the day before .  It cost 28 dollars.

I lose pedometers like crazy, or drop them in the sink, or toilet, or whichever, so i stick to the cheapies from walmart, they are 5 bucks and they do the basic step counting which is all i need :)
