New here
Hey gang I am Scott
I had my surgery in 08 and have lost over 200 lbs. I am a groundskeeper/arborist in southern nh. I try to work out as much as I can But sometime with 2 kids it gets tough.
Anyway I was 522 lbs down to 310. I want to get down to 250 to 275, and want to run in a 5k. So i am going to go back to the gym and increase my workouts as much as i can.
Anyway Hello.

Hey man.
Welcome to the board. You will find all the info that you need here to complete your goal. There is even a really small group of New Englanders here so maybe you will see someone at a race. Take it nice and easy and ease into the program. No sence in setting yourself back with nagging injuries before you really get started. Best of luck to you.

Welcome to the Exercise & Fitness Board Scott! Congratulations on your weight loss and working exercise into your busy lifestyle. I have three teenagers, so I can relate to the challenges of balancing work, family and fitness. I like the whole running scene because I can run any where.
Many of the folks on the board started running with the couch to 5K plan www.c25k.com/, which combines walking with increasing intervals of running to build your endurance safely. Be sure to join us on the daily workout threads.

Great Job Scott. Big Congrads on your success.
The gym is good stuff and is obviously working for you. My nickle: to start training for a 5k begins with walking; take the kids to a track and start with laps. The fresh air is amazing, its more entertaining than a treadmill (especially with kids walking, playing or biking at their own pace), and when you get bored with laps, you are ready toamp out a more fun course to you liking. I recommend a loop that starts and ends close to home.
This is great sight for motivation and support. Welcome!!!
