Hi everyone,
I had RNY on 1/6/10.  I am down 57 lbs. I have been participating in cardio activities since I was cleared to do so (about 2 weeks out). I am interested in doing some toning exercises.  Does anyone have any suggestions for helping with toning underarm 'bat-wings' that are starting to appear?

thanks much

pushups, curling, walking/jogging, and shortsleeve or long sleeve spandex tops/undershirts.  no tank tops or poor boys for this post-op guy.

I went joggin during my first year out and proud of my shrinking girth , wore a sleeveleless
t-shirt.  Being my pre-MP3 musical accompanied running days, I was bobbing along thinking about stuff and somewhere along the second mile, I heard what I thought was footsteps of someone coming up behind me.
I went to the shoulder and slowed so they could pass but the footsteps slowed also, so I turned to look and there was no one there.
I returned to my line on the shoulder of the road and pace and there they were again, same pace.  This time I stoped to see if someone was playing a little joke on the new jogger.
Nothing, no-one.
Being more aware and trying to discover the mystery, I return to my mission at hand.  Then I realized, the footsteps were my batwings slapping against my body as I swung my arms.  That was 3 years ago and I have not been sleeveless since.

I laff about it now too but keep my shirt on.

If you have lost 57 pounds and "Batwings" are STARTING to appear, your issues is skin. Unfortunately, no excercise will get rid of skin, only plastic surgery will. Of course gaining strength, muscle mass, and toning is awesome, but unfortunately, loose skin is something most of us have to deal with. I am having mine removed next month and cannot wait!!!!
