A Small Rant...

I have NEVER had an allergy problem, but they are kicking my butt this year!!! So I decided to take my son to the track with me this evening for my speed work night. The plan was 2 mile warm-up, 8 x 800M @ goal 5K pace, then 1 mile cool down. As I started my warm-up I could see pollen and cotton-like bits flying through the air and making their way to my face! Eyes began to water, chest started hurting, throat was killing... I got through the 2 mile warm-up at 9 minute miles. I did 4 x 800M at an average time of 3:37, which is pretty good for this fool... I could'nt take it anymore, so I left, dropped my son at home and headed to the gym where I finished 4 miles with a tempo run at 7 MPH @ 1.5% incline. Then I swam a mile and I was absolutely wrecked. I feel completely ZAPPED of energy, which is odd for a not-so-huge workout. So... With that being said; ALLERGIES SUCK! I hope this passes soon.

I hope it was just a high pollen count in the air and you feel better soon.
I have never had allergy issues myself, but my wife gets them and she is miserable all spring/summer.  It's like she has a constant cold during this time of year when everything starts blooming.

Feel better soon Dan,

Scott

The pollen count has been crazy this year.  Everyone it seems is having problems....me too.  I did a five mile run on Sunday evening and was really bothered by the pollen.  I've never had an issue with it either.  Hang in there, hopefully it will pass soon.

Yea it does suck. I love it when I'm just sitting on the couch and all of the sudden a bucket of water streams down my face. Nothing like a little tear duct action thanks to mother nature!

Totally understand!  They are so bad this year too.  And non-drowsy meds like cliartin and zertec make me SUPER drowsy.   Top it off with exercise induced asthma (all year round but worse with allergies), I cant even work out outside at all...inside is hard enough.  Hope you feel better soon
