I Blame YOU...
Went to the Wellness Center this afternoon, needed a good workout after a couple of down days. I always do the treadmill or the bicycle, and I've been working on building up some time on the elliptical. Did 8 minutes on that, then went to the treadmill and cranked up the incline and the speed, then slowed down for a few minutes, then thought, "What the heck?" and cranked it up and jogged for a minute. You all know my aversion to running, but I'm inspired by all of you guys who seem to love it so much. Now that I jogged a little and it felt pretty good, I'm going to have to do it again, for a little longer. Why do I have the feeling that's gonna become a pattern...?

Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up.

It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Jenny,
You know that's where most of us started - one minute at a time. Sometimes just getting past that first mental whatever it is makes everything seem like it can be done - even by you.
I will tell you that it took me quite a while before I had that "Wow! That was SO GREAT" run, but seeing the steady improvement was enough for me at first.
Congrats on biting the bullet and just trying! If you don't continue with it, that's fine too, but now you know you did it once and it was okay...

Thanks for the encouragement, everybody. I know this has been asked before, but while we're on the subject, what do you wear to keep from flogging yourself to death with your extra skin? It wasn't really too bad because I didn't jog for that long, but I can tell I'm going to have to wear a little something around my middle if I run very much. I had a good sports bra on, a T-shirt, and exercise tights. I think I saw Dan mention UnderArmor, but honestly, since I've never been a runner I haven't paid much attention to running-specific posts like that. Now I wish I had!
Bottom line is...you guys who are where I want to be (I still need to lose about 30 lbs. and have been stuck for about 8 months at the same weight), you all RUN. That seems to be the common denominator, so there must be something to it, right? I mean, I exercise nearly every day, watch what I eat, and I'm still stuck. I'm thinkin' maybe running will do it, and as much as I've always disliked it, I'm willing to do it anyway. I'm hoping to learn to love it as you all have. Bottom line is I'll do whatever it takes to get to where I want to be, even if that means running!

i use under armor, i wear a large or x-tra large shirt depending on the cut, but wear a size medium under armor top, it helps hold down the stuff and makes it much more comfortable to run. i can't run without it, it is just too uncomfortable.
Where are we going?? And why am I in this handbasket??
right now. somewhere. somebody is working harder than you.
