How not to do a run!

So Thursday, my running buddy asked to run late, and since I can never turn down an offer for a run we decided to head out a 7pm.  She is having face chemo, so we try and avoid crowds and the sun till after her treatments are done.  So I meet her at 7pm, and we head off down our favorite trail at the library.  I couldn't figure out why she was clomping and making a racket with her feet.  She is normally a very light on the feet runner, and reminds me to run properly and not bang the feet.  So after about a quarter mile, we both look down at her feet, and sure enough, she had forgot to change into her running shoes.  The clogs she was wearing were really making a racket.  We both had a good laugh.  We completed one loop, about 1 1/4 miles, before I decided that it was not in her best interest to continue running in the clogs.  We walked the second loop to get in a mild workout.

So, remember always check your feet before you start out on a run.  It can be painful to run in clogs.

that's hilarious... that reminds me that at my second sprint tri last year (in the rain), i noticed a guy running with a distinct slap slap to his step.  turns out he forgot his running shoes and didn't realize it until T2, so he just ran the 5K in his flip flops!
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

I ran a race last year in shoes that were now my lawn mowing shoes and were about 3 years old but that does not compare with the two above stories. I can't imagine a mile and a quarter in clogs.

That's pretty funny Rob.

A few months ago I arrived at a spin class without my bike shoes.  Had to do it in my wool Stegman clogs that I wore to the gym.  That was the most awful spin class I've ever done!  I haven't forgotten my bike shoes since.  In fact, I've turned around to go home and get them twice since!
