It's telling that I check this forum first now

I am almost 8 months out from lap band and have been successful in my book -   89 pounds as of this morning.  Have 40+/- to go to personal goal.  But as the weight loss has slowed, I have found it necessary to focus on what I can absolutely control (going to the gym on strength days) and a goal that is not measured by a number on the scale (completing c25k).   I am also trying to switch my concentration to training for maintenance - having a good exercise routine in place before I get there.

Because I have become more focused on the exercise, my interests have shifted to fitness and training rather than eating and sweating the scales.  WooHoo.  Hence, I check this forum first.  So, please keep posting, and I'll keep learning.

Don't get me wrong.  I am still following band rules for eating religiously - low fat and carbs, at least 64 ounces water, high protein, and vitamin and calcium supplements.  It's just that my time is spent somewhere else.

This is pretty much the only forum I've been on religiously since my one yr. in February. I think you hit the nail on the head. The focus changes..... Welcome aboard!

It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Nice job, Anne.

It's true that the focus changes.  The real challenge is realizing that it's life changes for better health in the long run.  The weight loss is good, but the real issue is forming the best habits that contribute to better health for the rest of our lives.  That's why I exercise.

You're doing wonderfully.  Keep up the good work!

Linn
