my first injury!

Thankfully, this is just tendonitis... or rather Iliobial Band Syndrome.

Years ago I had swimmer's ear.  Now I have runner's knee.  Let the PT begin!

The good news is that doc says I should be running in time for my 1/2 in June.

DON'T FORGET TO STRETCH, Y'ALL!!!!!!!!!!!

Sue,  sorry to hear that you've been sidelined.  I've been seeing a chiropractor trained in active release and graston and have found the two techniques work wonders. I also started using Rocktape to stabilize the knee and promote recovery.

Active release is awesome; I have piriformis syndrome and active release has helped ommensely. Yoga, especially pigeon pose, does it for me as well.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Sue - What a bummer! Sounds like you've gotten some great tips already, and as I haven't yet acquired runners knee, I can't really put in any good tips myself. Glad to hear you will be able to run your 1/2 in June though. How long do they expect you to be side linded?

IT band is one of the more common runner's injuries, so if you look at it that way, it was almost bound to happen eventually.  It seems to me that it's also more common after a race (no proof of that though).

Yep, stretching is good.  Take care of it so it will heal and you'll be back at it in no time.

Thinking positive thoughts for you!

Here is my favorite IT band stretch.  Good luck with it.

That's what the guys in the cycling club told me too.  The europeans don't consider you a bike racer until you break your collarbone.

Anyhow, I hope you recover quickly!
