Ran a 5K first thing this morning, and then walked the almost two miles home from the race.  I'm actually kind of sore, but it was a GREAT day for a run (ok, it was a great day to FINISH a run...it was actually a really cold start!).

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning in
Africa, a lion wakes up.
It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Went for my first bike ride of the season today...finally bugged my husband and son enough and they went to the storage unit and got my bike for me and filled the tires on the way home. I can't believe how much better shape I'm in than I was last fall. I started seriously working out in November of last year...before that I would walk for 15-20 minutes 2-3 times per week, and sometimes not even that. I would alternate my walks with one or two bike rides per week.  When I rode my bike I could barely make 20 minutes, and always took the easiest, least hilly route I could. Today, I rode for 35 minutes up and down hills, and could have gone longer. It was a good workout, and I could tell such a difference from my last ride. I wasn't wheezing after a hill and coasting as much as possible. Can't wait to get out there again!
