freaking pissed and down in the dumps
I was doing so good on my 3 mile a day average for my running goals, Now I'm sidelined with this broken chicken wing. I tried just quick stepping it across the street yesterday and the jarring motion hurt. Now I'm going to be at least a week behind. I hate trying to make up miles.
Well not so much down as irritated. This is putting a real kink in my training.
F@#%%
Just need to rant.
That is all

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
Sorry you are hurt (((hugs))) I had to stop going to the gym for 5 weeks due to a surgery I had then went back for 10 days and ended up with infection in my leg called cellulitis and had to take a week off at the gym. Now been back at the gym since Monday. Seems I alway**** road blocks in my journey and I find a way to bounce back. So I did things at home so I was at least doing something besides sitting on my butt. Just remember you need to let your body heal and once you are healed you will bounce back gradually. Keep your head up high! You will be back in no time!

Scott, you will be better soon! And Ranting can be good. Now I want to suggest that you dig out a few of your old belts and wrap the accross your chest around the arm and connect the belt under you good arm. I hope I am making sence. when in college I had a big volleyball tourna ment and had a bad shoulder and needed to keep in shape so I binded my arm up ........LOL used my moms scarfs! Hope this helps!

Band removed and feeling alive with energy!
Yeah I have it in a sling. I was thinking about using an ace bandage as well to strap it to my chest.
I was also considering some tape acros the top of the shoulder to help support things.
This won't work for swimming, but it might help for the running.
I can see myself swimming in circles with one arm strapped to my side.

Scott,
Dude a race isn't worth pushing yourself and risking this injury to turn into a long-term issue. So unfortunately the consequences of over working yourself on training is the situation you are in. I say it that plainly Scott so you don't further your problem into something long term that you will have to deal with for years. I've been there bro and missed Louisville Ironman last year due to a wrist surgery. I now have a tendon that rolls off of my knuckle and the only fix for it is a tendon transplant and riveting the groove in my knuckles. This was all avoidable if I took proper rest and care when the injury was just a small four week recovery.
The best thing you can do is rest and maybe strength training on your core and lower body. A race or a goal is not worth the long-term affects of an injury that you never healed from. Sorry for being preachy but I'm just lookin out for you bro.
