Marin Corps Marathon
I haven't done a full. It seems like a pretty cool course (you can do a 3d tour on the website), goes by a lot of cool spots. I heard it fills within 5 days, and this is day 3 I think. 30k runners.. did I read that right? I also saw a lot of protest types along the course in some of the photos - not sure I want to deal with that when running.
I am thinking Hartford just because I think I can get home afterward (1.5 hour drive or so). I am not sure I want to spend the night trying to get back to a hotel and then waking up the next day driving for 4 or 5 hours (after the half, the next day I know I would not have been able to handle that).
I think doing the Kauai Marathon on the second day after landing, and resting for the following week in a top resort is the best plan! :)

I like your Kaui plan!!!
At this point I'm leaning toward not doing MCM. I'm sure it would be awesome but I think I might stay local, that way I can hopefully have some friends and family there. If you decide to do Hartford, let me know. It would be nice to know someone doing it.
The other benefit of Hartford is that you have awhile to decide if you want to do it. I'm leery of races that fill up so quickly. I registered for Disney once because it fills up 8 months in advance and, of course, even with the best intentions it didn't happen and I wasted those entry fees. You can make a decision on Hartford mid-summer if you want once you see how your training is going. That's my plan, anyway.
Best of luck with whatever you decide!
