In Town Running

Good Evening Ya'll

Since I do mostly if not almost all of my running on the roads and in my town here is my question; when waiting at lights and busy intersections to cross should I stop my timer? Most of the time the wait is not really that long but if I am running in town all those little wait times really add up. So what do you guys do? BTW I ran for 5 miles on Saturday which is my personal record for distance. I have been training for  a 5 mile run at the end of this month. I am still slow, at 5 miles its a 12min mile, but thats in town with hills and wind and traffic(oh my!)

I run in my neighborhood area as well, but it is very rural. I only have a few times where I have to wait for ferry traffi****ep my chronometer running, and jog in place to keep my heart rate up. Then when I log my run on www.mapmyrun.com, I make a note if I had to wait for traffic, and for how long.

12 min. mile in town is a good time...don't sweat it, and have fun!

hugs,
Kathy
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.

It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

My belief if you start the timer when you start your run and end it when you finish.  Anything that happens in between is part of the running experience.  Just enjoy the run, and who cares about the time anyway.

I run along our neighborhood and the walking/running park they have here as well. There is a few area's where I have to stop and look for/stop for traffic. I don't usually worry about a few seconds here and there. I just jog in place while I wait.  Sounds to me like you are doing great!!
