no headphones

so I JUST discovered that the Cherry Blossom 10 mile does not allow headphones.  I'm not sure how I missed that all this time unless I was just denying it.

So, are most  races pretty serious about this rule?  I've not run at all without headphones, so this really changes my mental game plan.

1 week til race day!

most tri's are.  in CA it's against the law to ride or drive with them on.

I haven't seen a foot race where they were banned.

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!

Many races ban them but do not enforce the rule. Disney actually has banned them from races but about 80% of the runners use them.

Let me add a bit to that. The USATF has made the rule that you can't run with headphones. Any race that is USATF affilited has to abide by that. It does not mean that they have to enforce it though. Go ahead and wear them. I would be shocked if anyone said anything.

I stand corrected.  They have ammended the rule due to a passionate out cry from people wanting to wear them.  Here is a quote from a site I found.

"The USATF's rule previously had banned the use of headphones by all runners. Now it limits the ban to those competing in Championships for awards, medals, or prize money."

I kind of like running races without them.  It makes a better experience.  During training, I wear them about half the time.

i was worried about the first race without them too.  but i actually found it pretty liberating to run without them, especially in races.  i pretty much just wear them on the TM or stationary bike now, and occasionally break them out for an outside run.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

Thanks for the input!

I'll try some short runs without them this week just in case.
