Exercise keeping me from losing weight???

I have lost a total of 45 lbs up until Friday of last week. I started to exercise by doing cardio and lifting weights since Monday. I have lost weight every week since my surgery and this has been the only week that I have not lost any. I am at the same weight since last Friday. The only thing I have done different from before is exercise. I know that I should not rely on a scale when I am exercising because I am building muscle while burning fat and even though I may be losing inches, the weight might remain the same. But for this to happen with just a few days of exercise seems unlikely. Do any of you have any input on this?
I don't want to feel discouraged.

The first week of starting to exercise (or increasing your intensity) usually is accompanied by water retention as your muscles repair themselves. I never see a pick up in my weight loss until the 2nd week of increasing my exercise.

Along with your exercise, were there any changes in your diet. I agree, with any changes it takes your body time to compensate as stated earlier. One thing you can do is watch your carbs and what types of carbs you intake. As you increase your cardio, your body will want fast burning fuel and the tendency is to make so bad decisions here. The carbs folks eat are traditionally 7% from fruits and vegetables and our intake should be in the 60-80% range.

I made this mistake last year and as I was training for Ironman Orlando, I didn't lose more than 20 lbs in over a year. My body went bananas and I didn't understand what the change in fitness was doing to my metabolism. Cardio and endurance sports actually decrease your metabolism but the weight training speeds it up. So those two things need to go hand-in-hand.

Give it time to adjust, you'll be fine. Be smart about pre and post workout recovery drinks and set goals for yourself and a purpose for your workouts. Your results will be far greater if you do this.

Good luck!

Thank you everyone for your input. I feel better now knowing that I have not done anything to jeopardize my journey. I do understand that most of the time when we exercise, we increase what we eat. It's the body's natural reaction. But, with my VSG I tend to not get hungry at all, so my food intake has been pretty much the same. The only thing that I have found has increased is my water intake. I am really thirsty and drink all day long. I will keep with my program and hope to see some improvement. I really want to make this work.
