what to eat before spinning

I am 1.5 years out from RNY and just started spinning classes.  I'm about 240 lbs, 36 years old and female.  I find that I run out of energy half to third way through the class.  So what would you recommend I eat before the class and or after?  I don't dump too bad but I also don't pu**** either.  I'd thought I throw that out there if it mattered.

Ok.  So if I have a bowl of oatmeal with sliced bananas, the amount I would normally eat, do I eat the whole bowl or half the bowl?  I am always afraid I am gonna puke up food at the gym.  It's never happened and I do occaisionally get nauseated but I push through.

Don't know if you are spinning in the morning or evening?  Morning, nothing beats a normal breakfast of oatmeal.   Follow up after the class with either water or a protein smoothie.  Evening a normal dinner.at least thirty minutes prior to the class, and then water during the session.
Good luck and keep working, things will get better but not easier.

My favorite pre-workout snacks are either a banana or half an apple with a cheddar cheese stick.  It's really about what works for you-- I tried lot's and lot's of things, but those are my absolute favorites.  They really help me get the most out of my workout.

When I workout in the morning I have a banana before. If I get there and still feel hungry, I pop a gel to top me off. That way, I'm not going to be dealing with bathroom issues from eating something too strong.

My normal breakfast is a protein shake and I have that on days I workout in the evening.

In spin class, I bring a water bottle and I sometimes put a sports drink into it if I think I'm going to need the extra calories.
