measuring with excess skin

I had my bypass four years ago and I am back on track since I had my last child.  I have my friend measure me but we are alittle confused about measuring my waist and hips.  So far we havve been lifting up my skin and measuring.  So nasty!  I can't wait until I can get it cut off.  Any advice?  Thanks, Penni
