I just signed up for a 1/2 marathon

I started running in August.  My brother-in-law challenged me to a 5K.    So I did it.  And like Forrest Gump, I just kept running, so now I'm training for a 10Miler in DC in 4 weeks.  So, if I'm gonna run 10, what's 3 more, right?  So in June, I will run my first 1/2 marathon.

What an amazing place to be in, to not only do these kinds of things, but to BELIEVE I can do them!

Congrats!!!!

I am slowly increasing my distance to a bit over a 10K so I can do one in June, without walking breaks.

YOU GO!
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.

It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

That's great Sue. I am training for a 10K presently and hope to do a half in October. Might attempt a marathon in 2011. I will see how the half goes 1st!

I agree that it is a great plce to be in to believe we can accomplish these goals we have set for ourselves.

Yes, I'm doing the Cherry Blossom!  Can't believe we got a bib in our first time in the lottery!

The 1/2 is in Worcester, MA - it's their first.  Might be nuts to run it the first time their holding it, but what the hell!

Congratulations, Sue.  Remember, your long runs are the bread and butter of your training and you miss any of your endurance runs (short runs during the week), try not to miss too many of those either.  You be just fine.

I am so proud of you.

Also, don't try anything new on race day.  Do all of your experimenting during your training, especially your long runs.
Without struggle, there is no progress.
