running in the rain

I've been able to avoid it with the treadmill and good luck, but this weekend I'm scheduled to run 8 miles on Sunday and I really can't do it on a treadmill - BORING.

I'm guessing I finally need to suck it up and get myself to the running store for some new gear for this adventure.

Any tips (for gear or otherwise)?

If it was a nice warm summer rain, there is nothing better but a cold winter rain - screw that. I have done 3 treadmill runs of 18 miles or more. It is tough but also a badge of honor. I say, take it to the TM.

i like your thinking.  I survived 4 miles outside....but 8 miles tomorrow in heavier rain could get ugly.

Wear light stuff cause it going to get heavy as you get wet.  Have a couple of towels and get dry soon as possible after you are finished to keep from geeting sick.  Once you get your rythym going, I become completely obilvious to the rain, except the facial drippin is like a heavy sweat.  Glasses or sunglasses can also be annoying in the rain.  I ran my second 10K in the rain. I also keep a rotation of running shoes so wet ones have a couple of days to dry out before reuse.
It makes for good story telling a family gatherings. :O)

I live in Puget Sound (Seattle area). If it isn't raining, we look to make sure the world hasn't ended and we were too busy at Starbucks to notice....

It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Wear a visor/hat to help shield your eyes from the drops.  Otherwise enjoy the rain, if it's nice and warm.

I live in a rainy climate about 10 months out of the year, and it's a common sight to see some hard-core runners running in the rain.

Gore-tex rain gear is good for running and walking in the rain.
