My first marathon is in a week and a half, i'm struggling with how much i should and should not train in the lead up... any advice would be appreciated.  left unchecked, i will probably over-do it, because i'm a moron.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

Don't lift! A couple 3 mile runs and a lot of swim and light cycling in the mix.... The pounding on your legs will kill ya if you run too much. Let your legs recover nice and good so you will be 100% next week. DO NOT DO ANYTHING out of the ordinary, like golf, bowl, etc...

If you did nothing for the next ten days, you would be fine in the race.  All the work is done.  Like Dan has said, a few 3-4 milers at a nice easy pece to keep the legs loose  will  do.
