Day One

Today marks day one of my 8 week training for my 1st 10K May 2nd. I have run 6 miles on the tm on numerous occasions, so I don't anticipate having any problems. Just feels good to start officially training for the 1st of 2 running goals I have set for myself in 2010.

Now that the snow is melting and the days are longer, I will be able to start running outside. Really looking forward to that. If you had told me 2 years ago that I would be training for a 10K run, I never would have believed you, yet here I am doing it. Sure feels great to live life and enjoy the ride.

I'm doing my first 10K on June 6th. What training program are you following?
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning in
Africa, a lion wakes up.
It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

I checked on-line and things looked similar for the most part. I looked at the training schedule and runs in them. Based on what I currently run, I decided that the advanced beginner is where I fall into. Here is a link to the schedule.

Yep, training schedules are nice even when you regularly 'train.'  They help keep your goal fresh and usually you have better times/outcomes then when there isn't much of a plan.

Go for it and have a blast!
