SHORTEST TRIATHLON EVER: ON YOUR MARK. GET SET. YOU’RE DONE! Triathlon first-timers, long-timers and few-timers are all invited to participate in the 4th annual Shortest Triathlon Ever, held on Saturday, April 17, in Emeryville—the shortest city ever. Presented by The BOSS Foundation (Bay Area Orthopaedic Sports and Spine) in partnership with the City of Emeryville, The Shortest Triathlon Ever benefits the Emeryville Unified School District’s Health and Fitness Program. This is a perfect event for everyone to knock out their first triathlon of the year or the first triathlon of their life and pick up tips about practicing a healthier lifestyle. Event application is available at http://www.sportdrs.com. (Pre-registration open until April 15, 4:59 pm.) The very short triathlon course features: 100-yard Swim:Warm swimming pool, a 2.5-mile Bike: Fast and flat! Ride through the city of Emeryville, made famous by the opening movie scene in Pixar’s The Incredibles. (CPSC approved bike helmets must be worn and buckled.) 2.1-mile Run: Window-shop as you pass by all of the retail shops on Bay Street. Dr. Warren Strudwick, principal of BOSS, and physician for the Oakland Raiders, created this fun Shortest Triathlon Ever in 2007 to get everyone off the couch and outside running, getting fit. According to Strudwick, "This race is so short, anyone can do it And if you aren’t the racing type, just come down and volunteer for this great cause at 7:00 am. We’ll even feed you a healthy breakfast." Entry fee for adults is $45.00 pre-registered, $55.00 day-of registration. Bay Area students (18-years and under), cost is $35.00 pre-registered and $45.00 day-of registration. Emeryville students will pay a $1.00 registration entry fee and will get their dollar back when they finish the triathlon! Admission fee includes event, commemorative T-shirt, breakfast and post race Health & Wellness Fair. Participants are also encouraged to bring their friends and family to cheer them on and enjoy the Health Fair. The triathlon check-in and race-registration, as well as the finish line and post-race activities will be held in front of Emeryville’s City Hall at 1333 Park Avenue in Emeryville. Registration tables will open at 6:30 a.m. at City Hall, with the race starting at 8:00 a.m. at the Emery Secondary School’s swimming pool.
